Day 335: Why I love watching the MisAdventures of Awkward Black Girl

I mentioned in an earlier post how I love watching the MisAdventures of Awkward Black Girl, I even got some of my friends to watch it and comment about it on their blogs. BUT, I don't think I reached enough people yet.

YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS! AND HERE'S THE REASONS WHY:

1. A black girl saw a demand that wasn't being filled; witty, awkward humor like 30 Rock or Parks & Rec, that included Black people, but wasn't only funny for black people. Guerilla style, she got a crew of talented friends together and shot the first episode and put it on the internet. I admire her business sense and her drive!! Check out the video here.

2. Instead of thinking of tv, she continued guerilla style to start a webisode based series raising money to tape each episode. (A cause!)

3. Episode 1: Asks how many times do you say hello to someone that you know as you drive down the street beside the person! Stopping at each stop sign together! Or my fave: how many times do you have to speak to a co-worker that you continuously pass in the hallway.

4. The many parodies including the guitar scene in The Best Man, the high school dance scene from Love & Basketball and the dance from Save the Last Dance. It is so understated that if you don't know it you will miss it.
5. It has a hilarious supporting cast filled with squinty eyed, chronic whisperers, and germ infested people.

6. And finally, because it is refreshing to see faces like mine.

CHECK IT OUT.

*** It has cuss words, for those of you who prefer none.
