Day 358: Why can't I get Jason Segel, T.I and Chef Roble out of my mind?

I don't have cable. If you were in Peace Corps with me or are a part of my hippie lifestyle, you are nodding your head. If you are a part of the "real world" friends, your mouth usually drops open in shock followed by "so what do you do then?"  (The answer is "Read, work, and stay active.")
But also sometimes I turn on the tv to see what the two channels have to offer. And that's how I found out about Jason Segel . That show " How I met your mother" must be on every second of the day. After watching him, sing a bunch of made-up songs on the show, I googled him and was immediately enamored. Just like Jay on the show "Awkward Black Girl"*, "he gets me." He makes up little songs for everything, just like I do! (but he does it for profit). He wrote "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and some of the songs in "Get Em to the Greek"** I think he wrote, "Stroke the fuzzy wall"***. Even better he wrote the genius new Muppet movie, I spoke about in an earlier post (including his duet with a muppet called "Am I a man or a muppet of a man."*** And it clicked why I liked "How I met your mother" and "Get em to the Greek"...HIM. His brand of funny is refreshing and goes directly to my tickle bone.

Now TI, I watched a couple of episodes of his show on the VH1 website. He is hilarious, not without problems, but when he speaks his mind, I tend to agree with what he says. He's suave with just enough playfulness and roughneck attitude to grab my attention. Good men hate to hear this (my man included). The man is a convict, but he did his time, took care of his kids (financially), means well, and is trying (for the third time) to get it right. That I can deal with. (at least for a crush)

And last but not least, time spent in my parents' home with my sister often involve a lot of tv marathons. (Her choice of fun that she bullies me into doing.) This Christmas season, I caught a glance of Chef Roble 's show on Bravo. What! A positive Black man with a business, helping his family (though I would fire her), and his community (his chefs are from his childhood). LOVE IT.
It helps that he's attractive, confident and good at what he does. It also show his interactions with his girlfriend who is equally as gorgeous and he treats her right (at least on camera).

YUM - If you put these three people together, you would get my man. He doesn't realize sometimes the things I like about my crushes are all characteristics that he has.

Who are your celebrity crushes?

*Almost to 30 Rock level funny, and starring Black people. I am addicted. Check it out on www.awkwardblackgirl.com/episodes
** I love this movie despite it's incredibly silly content.
*** DON'T JUDGE ME!
