Day 356: Why I like riding the Metro

People have blogs lamenting on the horrors of riding the metro. They spend time commenting on it upon arriving to work each day. It's  dangerous (true), it's packed (very true), people smell, are loud, and say crazy things (true, true, true).

But I like the metro. Mainly for 3 reasons
1. It saves me money (since I don't have to park my car in the expensive garage)
2. It gives me a chance to think or read or rest instead of getting anxious sitting in traffic
3. It's a place for people to connect
With all the technology, facebook, twitter, online dating, face-to-face interactions has gone down tremendously. Now I don't want to talk to everybody, I just want the opportunity. And often I get a chance to see random acts of kindness to let me know that there are still good, raised well people in the world. I saw a man help a blind man find the right train to on when they didn't make a verbal announcement. And just recently, a woman fell and began seizing and a nurse immediately came over to help her and stayed until the 911 Emergency came down.

That is naturally beautiful. I can only hope that if I am ever in need of help, one of those kind souls will be near me.
