Day 263: Must see movies: Leave it on the floor and Think like A Man.

I had the awesome experience of getting to see a movie at the DCFilmFest called "Leave It On The Floor" I had no idea what to expect, it was at first confusing. I thought it was a documentary like "Paris is Burning" which was produced in the seventies, about drag balls in NY and the people who are part of it. This was a nod to that movie, but was definitely not the same. It was a musical about the gay ball lifestyle filled with sexy men, and the songs were great!!! One was called "Justin's Gonna Call" about how one of the guy's named Princess, said he was going to win enough drag balls that Justin Timberlake is going call and ask him to direct his music videos. Also "Knock them mutha***kas down" sung appropriately at a bowling alley. The movie caught my heart, the dancing, the storyline, I really enjoyed. I would have all those songs on itunes immediately, if they were there. I'm glad I was able to get the exclusive look at this. It is not out in theaters, but as it picks up steam, hopefully it will appear more and more.

I have also heard rave reviews from people who previewed "Think Like A Man", a black male said that it was a great comedy, had something for girls and guys, and has everything that is missing in a "tyler perry" movie. I will be date-nighting to that one, so you will definitely hear about it next week.

Continue to support films that you believe in, especially those who don't get regular play or aren't big enough (read enough money) to come to all theaters.

I believe I change my earlier stance on support Black films even if they are bad. That is not logistically sound. I didn't go see Red Tails (i heard it was horrible and it looked horrible) or most Tyler Perry films, but if it is a good movie, support so possibly we can see more good movies. :) Plus sign if it's Black.

Like I say I love to see any love and any marriage but for me, plus sign if it's Black love and Black marriage :)
