I work in an international non-profit. We are the Americans that sweep in and in two weeks, save the countries from themselves. BUT We are also the people who create organizations because we care filled with non-Americans that are part of the American organizations that come together because they care, that bring life saving techniques and knowledge to a remote area, that would have other wise never known how to save their love ones.
Trayvon Martin brought me back home. Are we (the US) a lost cause? Too far, to be saved? I am so disappointed, the self-acclaimed "greatest place on Earth", that's how I know that I am so glad that I try not to follow anyone elses' thought, can you imagine the things we think are ok. It just makes me realize that I need to do more, be present. I mentor one little girl, but don't I have time for 3? Forget brunches, and hanging out. I really have to make a difference.
